CSE Vice President clamoured to materialize Securities Institute
AQI Chowdhury, OBE says at CSE-SEC training program

Chittagong, December 20, 2006: Establishment of a Professional Securities Institute is an urgent infrastructure that need to be materialized soon for the greater interest of our capital market professionals, said Mr. AQI Chowdhury, OBE Vice President of CSE while inaugurating a two day training program that organized jointly CSE-SEC at CSE Conference Room for the Authorized Representatives of CSE Members.

CSE Vice President Mr. AQI Chowdhury, OBE is speaking his inaugural speech in a two-day training program organised for the CSE Members’ Authorised Representatives held at CSE Conference Hall.

While mentioning examples of same type of Securities Institutes in the developed countries like Bombay Stock Exchange Securities Institute, National Stock Exchange Securities Institute, Thailand Securities Institute, Bursa Malaysia Securities Institute etc., he said Securities Institute in Bangladesh was a brain child of CSE and its launch is very necessary to uphold quality human resource for the share market professions.

He further underscored that this two day training event will not meet the adequate requirement but it should continue. He appreciated towards CSE-SEC joint efforts and said after the 1996 debacle our authorized representatives are now well informed about SEC and CSE regulations. He requested them to use perfectly and efficiently of the training resource in their respective filed and ensures investors protection. He also emphasized and gave importance on investors’ relationship with the Members Firm. Investors are our assets and we should retain them for our interest in the long run, he further added.

In the first day session among the SEC senior officials Mr. Mansur Alam, ED spoke on types of securities corporate, governments municipal and asset backed securities and capital market regulatory framework and securities market intermediaries, Investment in Secondary market and related rules & enforcement actions for violation of securities law.

Mr. Farhad Ahmed, ED spoke on Central Depository System, Mr. Shuvra Kanti Chowdhury, ED spoke on how to read financial statements/record keeping of broker/dealer, Mr. Anwarul Kabir Bhuiyan, ED spoke on Surveillance System of SEC. Mr. ATM Tariquzzaman, Director spoke on Public Issue of securities.

Mr. Atiquzzaman, Acting Chief Executive Officer made his opening remarks in the session while Mr. Abdul Mutaleb, GM, System also present in the program.
