CSE First Vice President urged for US Cooperation for country’s capital market development
Chittagong, March 15, 2006: A team from US Embassy led by Mr. David Renz Chief of Economic Commercial Office, US Embassy visited Chittagong Stock Exchange today to aware about the latest development of Bangladesh Capital Market and the role of CSE towards the country’s Capital Market Development.

Mr. Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, First Vice President of CSE welcomed the guests and addressed his welcome speech by saying that US Embassy is a very important entity in our country diplomatically, politically, economically and socially. CSE can be benefited if US embassy can extend its kind cooperation on some specific issues, such as Information Exchange through USA Embassy sending publication, research papers, and studies to CSE library regularly so that CSE and the library users can enrich themselves |

Mr. David Renz in his remarks, said that he was impressed of CSE leadership that has been contributing immensely towards the Bangladesh Capital Market Development, specially on the issues of introducing automated trading system, providing wide area network locally and internationally, maintaining transparency, undertaking investors awareness program, ensuring effective surveillance system and above all innovating new ideas such as a Professional Training Institute, Corporate Governance issues etc. Mr. David also praised for CSE initiative for establishing SAFE – South Asian Federation of Exchanges with 12 stock exchanges from South Asia in 2000 to promote the development of securities markets in the region. He also appreciated for pioneering many modern concepts in the Bangladesh capital market such as Central Depository System (CDS).
Mr. David also assured CSE First Vice President of all out co-operation from US Embassy subject to the discussion on the need based program.
The Vice President of CSE Mr. AQI Chowdhury OBE in his remarks said that our capital market stakeholders need lots of expertise and professionals in their human resource management so that Bangladesh capital market could maintain same standard on compliance issues that are practicing by the devolved countries.
Mr. Salman Ispahani the former President and Director of CSE informed the US delegation that our entrepreneurs are now more enthusiastic to collect funds from share market. He emphasized on recent development of policy change that Bangladesh Bank doing for mandatory provision of equity participation of any project financing.
Mr. Golam Rabban Chowdhury, GM-Corporate Development has made brief presentation on CSE activities and its future program. CSE Director Mr. Bijan Chakroborty and CSE’s other high officials Mr. Abdul Mutaleb GM-System, Mr. Atiquzzaman GM-Compliance, Mr. AKM Shahroze Alam, Deputy Manager, Corporate Development were present in the meeting.
