County needs leadership to boost economic development through capital market

Says Prof. Dr. Anwarul Azim Arif at CSE- Premier University seminar

Bangladesh Capital Market has enormous potentials and needs dynamic leadership to take maximum advantage from capital market to boost up our economic development said Prof. Dr. Anwarul Azim Arif, Vice Chancellor of Premier University Chittagong while speaking as Chief Guest at a jointly organized seminar by CSE and Premier University Chittagong at university campus. The seminar topic was “ Risk of Investment in Share Market: A Pros and Corns Analysis.”

He said, we don’t want to listen that we are a poor country and it should not be always welcomed for foreign aid. We have resource and talent, by utilizing those country can overcome from poor to rich nation. If a rich country does, why not we, all are human being and they are doing the entire success story, he added. Dr. Arif while speaking in the seminar underscored in arranging regular awareness program on Bangladesh Capital Market by CSE, DSE or SEC for educational institutions and different professionals. He said we have to aware about our Capital Market to our next generation, as they are more enthusiastic about our share market, able to take risk and also knowledgeable.  These students will lead the capital market more effectively in the near future, he added. He urged education ministry’s attention to make compulsory curriculum about capital market in the higher education. He said, in our neighboring countries students can learn about their capital market from their secondary level while in Bangladesh it is absent.  He also said, if we could not produce our next generation as an investor or entrepreneur the vacuum of industrialization or employment generation in the country will never be fulfilled.

Dr. Arif also appreciated of recent development for the capital market that initiated by Finance Ministry of mandatory provision of debt equity ration for project financing. He said for project financing, entrepreneur should look into capital market, it is our obligation to share profit with general people, foreign companies should not be allowed repatriating the entire profit to their country. He also said, poverty reduction is not a big issue for our country rather problem is lack of framing effective policy, corruption, poor good governance etc.

Mr. A B Siddique, Chief Executive Officer while speaking in his deliberation, after 1996 debacle, share market is much matured, perfectly supervised by the regulatory body SEC, effective rules and regulation are implementing to protect the investors, concerted efforts are taking by jointly SEC, CSE and DSE, above all a fresh investor would find the present share market that are monitored in a very transparent way.

Mr. Siddique requested to upper, mid or lower level income people to save their money and consider share market as an alternative investment. Our great concern now a days is how we can face recent surge inflation rate. Peoples are every day fighting with their limited income, if we are properly guided and informed, and invest our money in share market we can face the above challenge.   

Enthusiastic students raised different questions on Bangladesh Capital Market while an elaborate presentation on the topic visualized by Mr. AKM Shahroze Alam, Deputy Manager Corporate Development. In his presentation, he gave importance on analitical skil before investing any money in share market.

Professor Dr. Milon Kumar Bhattacharjee while addressing his welcome speech thanked CSE for continuos efforts in arranging awareness program for students and professionals on Share Market.

Prof. Moinul Haque Assistant Professor of Premier University made vote of thanks and Mr. Abdul Mutaleb, GM-System, CSE attended in the seminar.
